About SDRC
-
Any double reed player from rising 7th grader to graduating high school seniors, with a minimum age requirement of 13 as of September 1, 2025, may attend if they have played a minimum of one year. We will hear each of you play when you arrive to help place you with teachers and other young oboes and bassoons who will give you the best experience for playing and reed-making sessions.
-
Any double reed player from rising freshman to graduating senior who has played for multiple years and is ready for the “next step.” You will need to prepare and record around 5 minutes of music that you can submit as an audition. Appropriate audition material includes part of any sonata, concerto, other solo work, etude, or an arrangement of a piece that speaks to you - please do not submit band or orchestra parts unless they are major excerpts. If you are not sure what that means and don’t have a private teacher of music director to ask, reach out to us directly to help you determine appropriate audition material. If you are one of the maximum 8 students selected for either studio, you will spend the camp working primarily with our featured faculty: Prof. Stephen Key for oboe and Dr. Ryan Romine for bassoon.
Supplemental auditions will be due April 15, 2025. Instructions will be sent at a later date after your application submission.
